Guide — Nooko Payment Rules
Nooko Payment Rules lets you choose which payment methods buyers see at checkout. Each rule takes one payment method and hides it, renames it or moves it, when the conditions you set are true.
1. Create a rule
- Open the app from your Shopify admin and select Create rule, or start from one of the examples.
- Write the payment method's name exactly as it appears at checkout, for example Cash on Delivery (COD).
- Choose the action:
- Hide it: buyers won't see the method.
- Rename it: show a different name, for example Bank transfer – 5% off.
- Move it: change where it appears in the list. Position 1 is the top.
- Add conditions, or leave them empty to apply the rule to every checkout.
- Save. You can turn each rule on or off from the rule list.
2. Conditions
A rule applies when all of its conditions are true. You can use:
- cart total (greater or less than an amount) and currency;
- delivery country (2-letter codes, like BR) and delivery province or state (codes like SP);
- customer tag;
- product tag, product type, vendor and collection of the products in the cart;
- delivery type (shipping, pickup, local delivery and others) and shipping rate.
Each condition can be "is" or "is not". For example, "delivery country is not BR".
3. Test before buyers see it
Open Test checkout and describe a checkout: country, cart total, products, customer tags and delivery. The app shows which payment methods buyers would see, without placing an order. The Last test column of the rule list shows the result of the latest test for each rule.
4. Good to know
- Your rules never hide every payment method. If they would, nothing is hidden.
- Rules match payment methods by their exact name at checkout. If a name changes in your payment settings, update the rule.
- Some changes depend on your Shopify plan. For example, in the United States and Canada, Shopify only lets apps change card payments on Shopify Plus. The editor warns you before you save.
- Wallets, like express checkout buttons, can't be renamed.
- You can turn a rule off at any time without deleting it.
5. Plans
The Free plan includes up to 3 active rules, with every condition and Test checkout. The Pro plan has unlimited rules. You can change plans from the Plan page of the app.
6. Uninstalling
If you uninstall the app, Shopify removes its rules from your checkout, and buyers see your payment methods as they were before. See the privacy policy for what data is deleted.
